C Spire TV is where to be to catch week three of the 2019-20 college football season, as Mississippi State takes on Kansas State at home and Ole Miss hosts Southeastern Louisiana.
Get the full scoop from SEC Central, a new analysis show from The Clarion-Ledger and Bash Brothers Media, as their team of football experts break down last week’s top SEC matchups, including (4) LSU’s dramatic win over (12) Texas, 45-38 in Austin.
Host Mackenzie Salmon, sports reporter at The Clarion-Ledger, and commentator Jon Wiener of Bash Brothers Media team up with two of Mississippi’s most accomplished collegiate football competitors, Wayne Madkin (MSU QB, 1998-2001) and Mike Espy (Ole Miss WR, 2002-05), on the program.
What to Watch Kansas State at Mississippi State, 11 a.m. on ESPN (ch. 200) Southeastern Louisiana at Ole Miss, 3 p.m. on SEC Network (ch. 220)
Elsewhere the SEC may look quiet, but don’t sleep on games like Alabama at South Carolina and Florida at Kentucky. A lot can happen in a day on the green in the SEC.
(2) Alabama at South Carolina, 2 p.m. on CBS (check local channel listing) (9) Florida at Kentucky, 6 p.m. on ESPN (ch. 200)
Mississippi State (1-0) will clang in their first game at Davis-Wade Stadium in Starkville this season by taking on the University of Southern Mississippi (1-0) on September 7. The Bulldogs have won all three meetings since rekindling the rivalry game in 2014, as well as the one before that—a 26-23 win over the Brett Favre-led Golden Eagles in 1989. They’re 17-point favorites heading into this meeting.
What to Watch Penn State transfer Tommy Stevens will get his first home game experience in Starkville this Saturday. After completing 20 of his 30 pass attempts for 236 yards and two touchdowns in their 38-28 win over Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday, can Coach Joe Moorhead’s ace pin down another W?
Wild Card: Southern Miss WR Jaylond Adams Adams set the tone for USM’s 38-10 victory over Alcorn State last week with an 89-yard opening kickoff return, then followed that performance with an 80-yard punt return in the fourth quarter. MSU’s special teams will be watching No. 2.
Are you ready for some football? Don’t forget Ole Miss will open their SEC season against Arkansas in Oxford Saturday night. Here’s where to catch all the action on C Spire TV. So. Miss. at Miss. State, 2:30 p.m. on ESPNU, channel 206 Arkansas at Mississippi, 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network, channel 220
The road to the 2020 FBS national championship begins with the NCAA college football kickoff this weekend in Orlando, Fla., live on ESPN.
In only their second matchup this decade, the University of Miami Hurricanes and the University of Florida Gators will meet in neutral territory to reignite this SEC/ACC rivalry.
The Dan Mullen-led Gators are preseason-ranked No. 8 heading into the game, while Manny Diaz’s ‘Canes are unranked but have recent history in their favor—Miami won their most recent meeting in 2013 (21-16) and dominates 5-1 in the series since 2000.
What to Watch Florida’s experienced wide receivers will meet Miami’s bruising front line. Can Florida QB Feleipe Franks connect with his receivers before the blitz hits? That could be the key to a Gators win.
Look for Miami to establish the run game early on the back of tailback DeeJay Dallas, who averaged a dominating 8.3 yards per carry in 2018. Florida’s run defense allowed 4.3 yards per carry last year, 11th overall in the SEC.
Wild Card: Miami WR Jeff Thomas After pulling in nearly 20 yards per reception over his previous two seasons, Thomas will line up with a new starting QB this season. Will they find a rhythm?
And for those keeping track, this game pits former Mississippi State head coach Mullen against his former two-time defensive coordinator. There’s no doubt the energy will be electric.
