Pairing Your C Spire Remote With Your TV

This article teaches how to pair your C Spire remote with your TV. Pairing your remote enables you to utilize your C Spire remote to turn the TV on/off and adjust the volume among other features.

I. Identify Your Remote

Take a look at the images below and identify which type of remote control you have:

II. AUTO-SEARCH – WILLOW REMOTE

Make sure your TV set is turned on. (The set-top box does not need to be turned on to perform this programing feature)

  1. Press and hold both the 1 and the 3 buttons at the same time on the remote control for approximately 3 seconds until the TV standby button remains lit, then release both buttons
  2. Point the remote control at the TV set and press and hold down the TV Standby Button or the Mute button on the remote control
  3. When the TV either turns off or brings up the MUTE symbol on screen, then release that button. This may take up to 5 minutes to happen
  4. Press and hold the Text/SHIFT button and then at the same time press the STOP button to finish setting up the TV control mode. The TV standby button will go out. The TV control function is now programmed into the remote control.

Should the TV brand be not successfully found by the remote control then the TV standby button will flash rapidly and the remote control will revert to normal operation. No TV brand code will be stored.

NOTE: If Auto-Search can not pair your C Spire remote with your TV, please continue to Step III below.

III Brand-Search – Willow Remote

The remote control can also be programmed to operate certain functions of your TV set. To program this functionality then perform the following instructions in sequence. In case of a mistake, the process can be exited at any point by pressing and holding the Text/SHIFT button and then at the same time pressing the STOP button. The remote control will revert to normal operation and no TV brand code will be stored.

  1. Determine the manufacturer of your TV set
  2. Download and open a copy of the Willow Remote Manual.
  3. Look up the 4-digit manufacturer code supplied in this manual and make a note of this code
  4. Make sure your TV set is turned on. (The set-top box does not need to be turned on to perform this programing feature)
  5. Press and hold both the 1 and the 3 buttons at the same time on the remote control for approximately 3 seconds until the TV standby button remains lit, then release both buttons
  6. Now enter the 4 digit manufacturer code for your TV set. On each digit entry the TV standby button will flash. On entry of the 4th digit the TV standby button will flash then remain lit
  7. Point the remote control at the TV set and press and hold down the TV Standby Button or the Mute button on the remote control
  8. When the TV either turns off or brings up the MUTE symbol on screen, then release that button. This may take a few minutes to happen
  9. Press and hold the Text/SHIFT button and then at the same time press the STOP button to finish setting up the TV control mode.

The TV standby button will go out. The TV control function is now programmed into the remote control.

The following buttons should now operate the TV set:

  • TV Standby
  • AV source select
  • Volume Up
  • Volume Down
  • Mute

If you get a new TV, you’ll need to reprogram your C Spire remote to operate the new TV..

If your TV can’t be found by the remote then the TV standby button will flash rapidly and the remote control will revert to normal operation. No TV brand code will be stored.

IV. PROGRAM YOUR BACKLIT REMOTE

This remote is already programmed to control your Set Top Box (STB). The instructions below will program this remote to control your TV.

  1. Manually turn ON the TV that you want to set up on the remote
  2. Press and Hold until the TV key blinks twice
  3. Press and release the TV key. The TV key will stay lit.
  4. Find your TV and brand from the chart below and note the DIGIT key assigned to your brand. Press and hold down the DIGIT key for your device/brand while pointing the remote to the device.
  5. Let go of the key when your device turns OFF. Setup for that device is complete. To program this remote control to your other devices , see the instructions below the table.

*If your TV brand is not on this list, please review additional brands starting on page 9 of the Backlit Remote Manual. Identify your TV brand’s codes and follow the steps above, entering your brand’s code during step 4.
