Each year in the Spring and Fall all fiber, cable and satellite TV providers (including C Spire) experience intermittent outages as a result of solar interference. The timing of these outages is tied to the spring and fall equinoxes, which are sometimes called the Vernal and Autumnal equinoxes.
At these two times each year, the sun becomes aligned in such a way that it lies directly behind the TV satellites in space. Because there’s just so much amazing energy coming from the sun, the receiving satellite dishes we have here on earth have trouble making out the TV signals amongst all that solar radiation.
Impact on TV & Video Service
C Spire Fiber TV’s infrastructure greatly minimizes the impact these annual sun outages have on our customers. Despite our efforts, there will be an impact on your C Spire TV service for about 8 days in October for a few minutes each day.
2016 Fall Sun Outages will begin on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 and run through Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Each day during this period, you can expect brief episodes of tiling, freezing, intermittent audio, and other symptoms commonly associated with a loss of signal.
Impact on Internet & Voice
There should be no impact on C Spire Fiber Internet or C Spire Fiber Voice service.
