Based on Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, Ben-Hur (2016) reconstructs the 1959 Hollywood classic using modern film technology to deliver one of this year’s top historical action dramas. If you love Roman era action, then Ben-Hur is a film for you!

The original Ben-Hur won 11 Academy Awards and starred Charlton Heston in the title role. It’s most revered scene by movie aficionados involves an amazing chariot race, a common form of entertainment in ancient Rome.

Ben Hur Synopsis: Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston) loses everything after his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), now an officer in the Roman army, returns to Jerusalem and accuses the young prince of treason. Stripped of his title and separated from his wife (Nazanin Boniadi) and family, Ben-Hur must endure years of slavery on a galley at sea. When fate brings the estranged brothers to an epic and deadly chariot race, Ben-Hur finally gets the chance to exact vengeance on the man who destroyed his life.

This film is rated PG-13 for for sequences of violence and disturbing images. Parents should use caution in allowing children and tweens to watch this classic film remake.
