Hell or High Water is a Western for 2016

Hell or High Water is a Western for 2016

Hell or High Water is new to C Spire Video on Demand this week. And it’s a film that’s already stirring up some Oscar buzz for its actors’ performances, story and impressive cinematography. Starring brothers Chris Pine and Ben Foster, the film follows the two on a Robin Hoodian journey of morally justified bank robberies. Standing in opposition to these two is none other than Jeff Bridges, who plays a Texas Ranger more deftly than that guy who played Walker back in 1993.

Set amongst the West Texas scrub, Hell or High Water is brings to mind the works of Cormac McCarthy to mind for the film’s rich portrayal of a hardscrabble characters attempting to squeak out a dry, dusty existence in a landscape ever harsh and foreboding. This film is reminiscent of others neo-westerns like In the Valley of Elah, Sicario, No Country for Old Men, and Traffic.
