While there are many folks that still long for the excitement only a swanky night on the town can bring, many of us prefer to stay close to home on New Year’s Eve. And with good reason! Because in addition to the various countdown shows and top bowl games, this weekend will deliver some amazing movie and TV show marathons sure to entertain.
Breaking Bad | AMC (ch 104)
If you never had a chance to see Breaking Bad, do yourself a favor and set your DVR for this weekend. The marathon starts on December 31st 1pm to Midnight; Jan 1st 1pm to Midnight.
The Twilight Zone | SYFY (ch 638)
Rod Serling narrated and wrote over 80 acclaimed episodes of the Twilight Zone from 1959 through 1964. The show did more to stretch the starchy and stodgy TV world than any other show prior. Some believe The Twilight Zone was the first show to bring true art to the small screen. The show continues to be a cult favorite for how it employed sci-fi, horror, drama and sometimes humor genres to tackle contemporary issues of the day.
The marathon starts at 3am on December 31st until Jan 2nd at 3am.
Parks and Recreation | E! (ch 118)
This former NBC series follows absurd antics of an Indiana town’s public officials as they pursue sundry projects to make their city a better place. The marathon starts December 31st and continues through Jan 1st at 6am.
The Simpsons | FXX (ch 110)
The Simpsons is TV’s longest running scripted show now in its 29th season. The marathon starts December 31st at 7PM and runs through Jan 1 at midnight.
Rick and Morty | Cartoon Network (ch 564)
Rick is a mad scientist who drags his grandson, Morty, on crazy sci-fi adventures. Their escapades often have potentially harmful consequences for their family and the rest of the world. The marathon starts December 31st at 10pm and runs through Jan 1st at 4am.
Harry Potter Universe | Freeform (ch 102)
Follow Harry Potter from “Goblet of Fire” to “Deathly Hallows” on Freeform. The marathon starts December 31st at 6am and runs through midnight.
